Description

Add a measured marine omega-3 source to your routine in a compact capsule. Krill Oil is an option for people who prefer capsules to a liquid oil: it supplies EPA and DHA alongside the marine phospholipids and astaxanthin naturally present in krill oil. The amounts are stated separately, so you can see exactly how much omega-3 is included in your daily serving.

Each capsule contains 500mg krill oil, including 60mg EPA and 40mg DHA, for 100mg combined EPA and DHA. It also provides 200mg marine phospholipids and 100µg astaxanthin. Two capsules provide 200mg combined EPA and DHA.

EPA and DHA are long-chain omega-3 fatty acids. Krill oil also contains phospholipids, lipids that form part of cell membranes and carry some of the oil’s fatty acids. Astaxanthin is a carotenoid pigment naturally present in krill oil. These describe different components of the oil; the 500mg total oil amount is not the same as 500mg EPA and DHA. Gelatin, glycerol and sorbitol form the soft capsule shell.

Take one or two capsules daily. The 60-capsule pack lasts 30–60 days at that intake. The capsules contain bovine gelatin and are unsuitable for vegetarians or vegans. Contains CRUSTACEANS and is unsuitable for people with fish or shellfish allergy. This product is not intended for pregnancy or breastfeeding.

If it isn't answered below, ask us — a real person replies.

How much krill oil is in each capsule?
500mg Antarctic krill oil per capsule.
How much EPA and DHA do I get?
One capsule provides 60mg EPA and 40mg DHA, totalling 100mg. Two provide 120mg EPA and 80mg DHA, totalling 200mg.
What other components are listed?
Each capsule also provides 200mg marine phospholipids and 100µg astaxanthin. These are components of the krill oil, not additional amounts of oil.
How do I take it, and how long does the pack last?
Take 1–2 capsules daily. Sixty capsules last 60 days at one daily or 30 days at two daily.
Is it vegetarian or vegan?
No. It contains krill oil and a bovine gelatin capsule shell.
What allergens apply?
It contains CRUSTACEANS and is unsuitable for people with an allergy to fish or shellfish.
Can I take it during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
No. This product is not intended for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers.
What if I take blood-thinning medicine?
Speak to your doctor before use. This also applies if you have a blood-clotting disorder.
What do the phospholipids and astaxanthin contribute?
The phospholipids are part of the oil’s natural lipid structure, and astaxanthin is its naturally occurring carotenoid pigment. Each capsule supplies 200mg phospholipids and 100µg astaxanthin. These figures let you compare the oil’s components separately from its EPA and DHA amounts.

FormVaries by formula
OriginSee the individual product ingredient list for the exact form and source.
AllergenWhey formulas contain milk and include soy lecithin. Always refer to the individual product allergen declaration.

Different roles

Colours help create a consistent appearance. Stabilisers and thickeners influence texture and how ingredients remain dispersed. Carriers help distribute small quantities of an ingredient through a larger blend. These are different formulation jobs.

Examples in practice

Xanthan gum is used to thicken or stabilise a drink. Citric acid adjusts acidity and contributes tartness. Maltodextrin can provide bulk or act as a carrier. Colour ingredients may include beta-carotene, turmeric extract or grape skin extract where listed.

A useful distinction

An ingredient used for colour is not automatically present at a nutritional supplement dose. Turmeric extract used as a colour, for example, should not be assumed to supply a standardised curcumin amount.

In VECHÉN

The exact combination varies by product and flavour. Read these ingredients alongside the main nutrients: they explain how a powder or liquid is made to taste, mix and remain consistent. Their individual quantities should not be guessed where the label does not declare them.

Found inKrill; other dietary sources of EPA and DHA include oily fish.
AllergenContains CRUSTACEANS (krill).
DoseTake capsules according to the product label. Do not open them into food recipes.

What it is

Krill oil is extracted from small marine crustaceans. It contains the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, together with phospholipids and the reddish pigment astaxanthin.

Its nutritional role

EPA and DHA are long-chain fatty acids found in cell membranes. They are different from ALA, the main omega-3 found in foods such as flaxseed and walnuts.

Understanding the form

In krill oil, much of the omega-3 is carried in phospholipids. This differs from the predominant triglyceride form in many fish oils, but does not justify assuming that every krill oil is better absorbed.

A useful detail

The weight of the oil is not the weight of its EPA and DHA. Compare those two declared amounts when reading labels. Phospholipids and astaxanthin are components of the oil, not additional oil quantities.

In VECHÉN

Each capsule declares 500mg krill oil, including 60mg EPA and 40mg DHA. Krill is a crustacean allergen; the capsule also contains bovine gelatin, so it is not vegan or vegetarian.
