Description

Bring more plant variety into a routine you can repeat. Greens Blend combines 40 organic food ingredients, including grasses, fruit, vegetables, seeds, algae, botanicals and seven mushroom fruiting bodies. Instead of buying and preparing each powder separately, you can add a measured serving to the smoothie or drink you already make.

Each 15g serving provides 2.6g fibre, 18.7mg vitamin C and 53 kcal. That is 23% of the vitamin C Nutrient Reference Value. Its vitamin C helps your immune system work normally, helps reduce tiredness and fatigue, and helps protect cells from oxidative stress. The blend is high in fibre, giving you a simple way to add fibre alongside your usual meals.

The ingredients provide a broad mix of foods in one measured powder. Grains, grasses, seeds and leaves contribute to the food and fibre blend; fruits and berries add fruit ingredients; algae and mushroom fruiting bodies extend the variety beyond a typical fruit smoothie. The nutritional benefits we can quantify are those of the complete serving, including its fibre and vitamin C.

Grains, grasses and seeds: pre-sprouted activated BARLEY, WHEAT grass, BARLEY grass leaf, quinoa, linseed (flaxseed), fennel seed.

Fruit and berries: lucuma, acai berry, baobab fruit pulp, acerola fruit, apple, bilberry, blueberry.

Leaves, roots, vegetables and botanicals: moringa leaf, turmeric, alfalfa, maca root, asparagus root, beetroot, black pepper, broccoli, carrot root, green tea leaf, kale, nettle leaf, olive leaf, parsley leaf, peppermint leaf, Siberian ginseng, spinach leaf.

Algae: kelp, spirulina, broken-cell-wall chlorella.

Mushroom fruiting bodies: almond mushroom, chaga, cordyceps, lion’s mane, maitake, reishi, shiitake.

Mix 1.5 heaped scoops (15g) into water, juice or a plant drink, or blend into a smoothie. The 300g tub provides 20 measured servings. Suitable for vegans. Contains BARLEY, WHEAT and naturally occurring SULPHITES. Use it alongside a varied diet, with fruit and vegetables still part of your daily meals.

FAQs

If it isn't answered below, ask us — a real person replies.

How do I prepare it?
Mix 1.5 heaped scoops (15g) into water, fruit or vegetable juice, or a plant drink. Stir or blend; blending gives the smoothest mix. It can also be added to a smoothie. The suggested use is 1–3 servings daily.
How much fibre and vitamin C does it provide?
Each 15g serving contains 2.6g fibre and 18.7mg vitamin C, with 53 kcal.
Which mushrooms are included?
Almond mushroom, chaga, cordyceps, lion’s mane, maitake, reishi and shiitake fruiting bodies.
Is it organic and vegan?
Yes. The blend uses organic food ingredients and is suitable for vegans.
Does it contain gluten-containing ingredients?
Yes. It contains BARLEY and WHEAT ingredients, so it should not be chosen as a gluten-free formula. It also contains naturally occurring SULPHITES.
Does it replace fruit and vegetables?
No. It is a food supplement to use alongside a varied diet. Keep eating a range of fruit and vegetables.
How long does the tub last?
The 300g tub contains 20 measured 15g servings: 20 days at one daily, 10 days at two daily, or about 6 days with a little left over at three daily.
Can I use it during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using it. This blend contains multiple botanicals, algae and mushrooms, so suitability needs an individual assessment.
How many ingredients are in the blend?
There are 40 organic food ingredients, including seven mushroom fruiting bodies. The full list is grouped in the description above. This includes barley grain and barley grass as separate ingredients; it is a count of listed ingredients rather than 40 different plant species.
Why use it in a daily routine?
A measured serving adds 2.6g fibre and 18.7mg vitamin C, with a broad mix of organic food ingredients. Vitamin C contributes to normal immune function, the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and the protection of cells from oxidative stress. It is a convenient addition to your normal meals, rather than a replacement for fruit and vegetables.
Why are there several groups of ingredients?
The recipe combines grains, grasses and seeds; fruit and berries; leaves, roots and other botanicals; three algae ingredients; and seven mushroom fruiting bodies. This gives you variety in a single powder without buying each separately. The measured serving adds fibre and vitamin C. Vitamin C contributes to normal immune function and helps reduce tiredness and fatigue; the variety also makes adding these food ingredients easy to repeat.

FormPowder or liquid, depending on formula
Found inCitrus, blackcurrant, peppers, broccoli, kiwi

What it is

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that your body cannot make. Peppers, kiwi fruit, citrus fruits and broccoli are familiar food sources.

Its nutritional role

Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, bones and cartilage. It is involved in the enzyme reactions used to make collagen. It also increases iron absorption; this is particularly relevant to non-haem iron found in plant foods.

Understanding the form

Ascorbic acid and mineral ascorbates, such as calcium ascorbate and sodium ascorbate, supply vitamin C. A plant-derived source does not automatically mean better absorption. Liposomal describes a formulation approach, rather than a different vitamin.

A useful detail

The percentage absorbed falls as the dose increases. A higher number on the front of a pack does not mean proportionally more vitamin C reaches the body.

In VECHÉN

STRUCTURA provides 180mg vitamin C per serving. Other formulas use different amounts and combinations; compare the vitamin C quantity per recommended serving rather than the weight of the whole powder or liquid.

NIH: vitamin C ↗

How it helps

Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums, skin and teeth. It also contributes to the normal function of the immune system, the protection of cells from oxidative stress, and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

SourceBarley ingredients as declared in the Greens Blend ingredient list
FormPowder
Found inBarley, wholegrains
CertificationSoil Association organic · GB-ORG-05
AllergenBarley (gluten-containing cereal).

Two different ingredients

Pre-sprouted barley refers to a grain ingredient, while barley grass refers to the young green shoots. They come from the same cereal plant but have different compositions. The words grain and grass should not be used interchangeably.

Understanding the preparation

Sprouting begins the seed’s germination process. A name such as pre-sprouted describes how the ingredient is prepared; it does not establish a specific vitamin content or a health benefit in the finished blend.

A useful detail

Barley grain contains gluten. A product containing barley grain should not be assumed to be gluten-free because another ingredient is described as barley grass. The finished product’s allergen declaration is the relevant guide.

In VECHÉN

Greens Blend lists barley ingredients, including its first ingredient by weight. This identifies their place in the recipe, rather than an individually declared serving amount. A greens powder containing cereal ingredients is not interchangeable with a powder made only from vegetables.

What the group includes

Green powders can combine several kinds of material. Spinach and parsley are leaves; cereal grasses are young shoots; chlorella is a microalga; and spirulina is commonly grouped with algae in food descriptions, although it is a cyanobacterium.

Understanding the preparation

Drying removes water and concentrates the remaining material by weight. It does not mean that every nutrient from the fresh ingredient is retained in the same proportion. The finished powder’s declared nutrition is the useful measure.

A useful detail

A long list of greens is not a count of vegetable portions. Without individual quantities, the ingredient list cannot tell you how much spinach, spirulina or another component a serving provides.

In VECHÉN

Greens Blend combines several green ingredients. Hemp Protein + Greens includes alfalfa, spirulina, chlorella, parsley and spinach, while Pea Protein also lists spirulina. Their roles and amounts differ between formulas. These powders can add ingredients to a routine but do not replace the variety and texture of vegetables in meals.

CertificationOrganic certification applies only where specifically supported for the Greens Blend.

What the group includes

The range includes ingredients such as lucuma, acai, baobab, acerola, apple, blueberry and bilberry. Each fruit has its own composition, taste and colour; grouping them together does not make their preparations equivalent.

Understanding the preparation

A whole-fruit powder, a juice powder and an extract can contain different proportions of the original fruit. Removing water changes the weight, while extracting selected components changes what remains. A product name alone does not tell you the method.

Reading nutrition

A familiar fruit ingredient does not establish a particular vitamin or fibre content in the finished serving. Use the declared nutrition information and distinguish a fruit-equivalent weight from the actual extract weight.

In VECHÉN

Fruit and berry ingredients appear across Greens Blend and selected plant-protein formulas. Greens Blend declares 18.7mg vitamin C per serving. That is the quantity for the finished formula; it is not a measured vitamin contribution attributed to every individual fruit in the blend.

SourceAgaricus blazei, chaga, cordyceps, lion's mane, maitake, reishi and shiitake, as listed on the product information.
FormPowdered mushroom ingredients
CertificationOrganic certification applies only where supported by the Greens Blend certification scope.

What they are

Mushrooms belong to the fungi kingdom. Greens Blend lists Agaricus blazei, chaga, cordyceps, lion’s mane, maitake, reishi and shiitake. They are different organisms, rather than seven interchangeable versions of one ingredient.

Powder versus extract

A powdered fungal ingredient and a concentrated extract are different preparations. A full specification may identify the part used, such as fruiting body or mycelium, the extraction method and any measured constituents.

A useful detail

The number of species in a blend does not reveal the amount of each. Nor does it establish an extract strength or a beta-glucan content. These details need an actual specification rather than an assumption based on the ingredient name.

In VECHÉN

The seven ingredients form part of Greens Blend. Each contributes to the formula’s mix of fungal and plant ingredients.

Why the plant part matters

Root, leaf, seed and fruit describe different plant tissues. Even when they come from the same species, their composition can differ. The plant part is therefore useful information alongside the botanical name.

Understanding powders and extracts

A powder usually describes dried, milled material. An extract is made by drawing selected components out of the starting material. An extract ratio describes a relationship to that starting material; it is not automatically a measure of effectiveness.

A useful detail

Ingredient lists generally show descending order by weight at the point of manufacture. That helps explain a blend’s relative composition but does not give the precise amount of every botanical. A small supporting ingredient should not be assumed to supply a concentrated standalone dose.

In VECHÉN

Roots, herbs and seeds appear in Greens Blend and selected plant-protein powders. The combinations vary. The ingredient list identifies the combination used in each formula.

SourceBilberry extract in Liposomal Vitamin C; bilberry ingredient in Greens Blend.
FormExtract or powder, depending on formula
Found inBilberries, blueberries, blackcurrants, elderberries

What it is

Bilberry is a berry related to blueberry. It contains naturally occurring plant pigments, including anthocyanins, which contribute to its dark colour.

Powder and extract

A fruit powder and a concentrated extract are different preparations. For an extract, useful details include the starting material, extraction ratio and any measured constituent. The fruit name alone cannot describe these.

Reading the declaration

Anthocyanins and anthocyanidins are related terms but are not interchangeable: anthocyanins contain a sugar component. When a label declares anthocyanidins, that exact term should be retained rather than silently changing the measurement.

In VECHÉN

Liposomal Vitamin C declares bilberry equivalent to 500mg per serving, providing 1.25mg anthocyanidins. The 500mg equivalent is not the same as 500mg of pigment. Bilberry also appears in Greens Blend, but the liquid’s extract specification cannot be applied to that different ingredient.

Guarana and green tea

Two botanical ingredients to distinguish from the protein powder that contains them.

SourceGuarana extract; green tea extract
FormExtracts
Found inCoffee, tea, cocoa, guarana drinks
DoseCaffeine quantity has not been established from the supplied product information.

Guarana

Guarana is a plant whose seeds naturally contain caffeine. A guarana extract is a prepared botanical ingredient; its name alone does not state its caffeine concentration.

Green tea

Green tea comes from Camellia sinensis leaves and naturally contains caffeine and plant compounds including catechins. Extracts differ from a brewed cup of tea in composition and concentration.

Understanding the amount

An extract’s weight is not the same as its caffeine or catechin quantity. A product cannot be assigned an exact caffeine dose from an ingredient list unless the extract specification and amount support that calculation.

In VECHÉN

Brown Rice Protein lists guarana and green tea extracts. Pea Protein, Hemp Protein + Greens and Greens Blend also list green tea. These ingredients should be considered when choosing a routine, particularly by people sensitive to caffeine.

Apple, mint and greens

View recipe

Makes 1 glass.

Ingredients
• 15g VECHÉN Greens Blend (approximately 1.5 heaped scoops)
• 200ml cloudy apple juice
• 6–8 fresh mint leaves
• Juice of 1/2 lime

Method
1. Pour the apple juice into a blender, then add VECHÉN Greens Blend, mint and lime juice.
2. Blend until the mint is finely chopped and the powder is dispersed.
3. Serve cold. Add a little cold water if you prefer a lighter drink.

Add Greens Blend to the cold liquid before blending. Weigh 15g for a consistent amount; heaped scoops vary. Check the product pack for barley, wheat and sulphite allergen information. Follow the directions and daily serving limit on your product pack; the powder in this recipe counts towards that amount.

Green kefir

View recipe

Makes 1 glass.

Ingredients
• 15g VECHÉN Greens Blend (approximately 1.5 heaped scoops)
• 250ml kefir
• 1/2 banana
• 1 tsp nut butter

Method
1. Put the kefir in a blender, followed by VECHÉN Greens Blend, banana and nut butter.
2. Blend for about 30 seconds, until evenly mixed.
3. Serve cold, thinning with a little water if needed.

The powder goes into the blender before blending; do not heat the kefir mixture. Contains milk and nuts, plus the allergens declared on Greens Blend. Follow the directions and daily serving limit on your product pack; the powder in this recipe counts towards that amount.

Stirred through soup

View recipe

Makes 2 bowls of soup. Add 15g powder separately to each adult bowl you are serving; do not add it to the whole storage batch.

Ingredients
• 15g VECHÉN Greens Blend per bowl served (approximately 1.5 heaped scoops)
• 1 medium courgette, chopped
• 1 small leek, washed and sliced
• 150g frozen peas
• 500ml vegetable stock
• 1 tsp olive oil

Method
1. Soften the leek in the oil for 5 minutes. Add courgette, peas and stock; simmer for 10–12 minutes, until tender.
2. Take off the heat and blend with a stick blender. Divide into bowls and let the serving you will eat cool until comfortably warm.
3. In a small cup, whisk VECHÉN Greens Blend with 2–3 tbsp cool water to make a smooth mixture. Stir it into one warm bowl just before eating.

Add Greens Blend after cooking, not while the soup is boiling. Save any remaining soup without powder and add a measured serving after reheating and cooling it to warm. Check the stock and product pack for allergens. Follow the directions and daily serving limit on your product pack; the powder in this recipe counts towards that amount.
